Fanny’s Journey
What compels a thirteen-year-old girl to take responsibility and help others at the very moment when everything is changing?
The exhibition “Fanny’s Journey” invites visitors - children and adults alike - to meet Fanny Ben-Ami, a Jewish girl who led a group of children from France to Switzerland during the Holocaust driven by concern, friendship, and humanity.
The exhibition presents paintings Fanny created later in life accompanied by short excerpts from her testimony. Through the colors and characters she revisits moments from the journey: the fears but also the friendship, compassion, and light that endured along the way.
The artworks reveal the emotional world of a young girl who transformed powerful memories into a warm and accessible visual language.
Eight stations, arranged as a narrative of the journey, allow children to follow Fanny’s story at eye level - from the safety of [her? Their?] home to the moment when she could finally be a child again.
This is an exhibition about choice, mutual responsibility, and the ability of children to see others and act on their behalf.
