Havka Raban, one of the founders of the Ghetto Fighters’ Kibbutz, invited to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day in Madrid

Havka Rabin-Folman, who was a courier in the underground resistance, a survivor of Auschwitz and one of the founders of the Ghetto Fighters’ Kibbutz, was invited to the main Holocaust commemoration event in Madrid, Spain. Also invited to participate was Nora Gaon, director of the Spanish Desk of the Ghetto Fighters’ House Overseas Department.

The French Friends of the Ghetto Fighters' House hosts a Gala event at the UNESCO Grand Auditorium in Paris

In celebration of its 15th year, the French Friends of the Ghetto Fighters' House will be hosting a gala event. At the event, the Thelma Yellin High School Symphony will be performing. The concert will take place at the UNESCO Grand Auditorium on February 8th in Paris, France.

Operation Attic Continues

The Ghetto Fighters' House Archives continue to collect archival material: artifacts, photographs and documents (letters, diaries, memoires, personal certificates, etc.) from the pre-Holocaust period (Jewish life and culture, Zionist youth movements, etc.), the Holocaust period and from the first years after the Holocaust ("Sh'erit ha-Pletah" - Jewish displaced persons).

Researcher from Brazil comes to the Ghetto Fighters' House to observe the Drama and Theatre program at Yad Layeled

Leslie Marko, Director of Theatre Education at the Laboratory for the Study of Ethnicity, Racism and Discrimination (LEER and virtual archive ARQSHOAH) of the University of Sáo Paulo in Brazil, recently visited the Ghetto Fighters' House in order to learn about the drama and theatre program at the Yad Layeled Children's Museum.

Multi-media guide has been installed at the Ghetto Fighters' House

A multi-media guide has recently been installed at the Ghetto Fighters' House. With the help of this technology, visitors will be able to do a two hour self-guided tour the Ghetto Fighters' House and "Yad Layeled".

From the Ghetto Fighters' House Archives: A dispensation for eating hametz during Passover in the Bergen-Belsen camp, 1944

One of the artifacts featured in the Haggadah exhibition at the Ghetto Fighters' House this Chol Hamoed is a dispensation for eating hametz during Passover at the Bergen-Belsen camp in 1944. Written in Hebrew, this makeshift permit is testimony to the spiritual and religious dilemmas faced by the Jewish inmates of the camp.

Hasia Bornstein-Bilitzka donates her Zionist Coordination albums and other documentation to the Ghetto Fighters' House

The Ghetto Fighters' House holds the largest collection of documents, certificates and albums that deal with the Zionist Coordination in Poland. Hasia Bornstein_Bilitzka has graciously donated to the museum's archive the documentation that she has kept and guarded over the years on the children's orphanage and the children who were under her care. Among the materials donated are photographs from the orphanage she directed in Lodz, the children who were at the displaced persons camps in Germany and the "Children's Kibbutz" that Hasia directed at the deportee camp in Cyprus after the war.
